The summer is over (boo-hoo) and we’re settling back in to life in Brooklyn (yay!). A new school year, a new season, and we thought: why not try something new with our kids? We asked three parents to share their favorite drop-in activities with SkipKid. Check out their recommendations–and please let us know your favorite activities, too!
Name: Liz, mom to Vivian (4) and William (1)
Brooklyn Neighborhood: Fort Greene
Favorite neighborhood drop-in activity: By far my favorite drop-in activity is Babies and Bier at DSK on Fulton Street. It’s a great place to meet like-minded (read: chill) parents, and the kids love the toys and soft pretzels.
Name: Alejandro, dad to Mateo (3) and Hugo (9 months)
Neighborhood: Park Slope
Favorite Neighborhood drop-in activity: Story time at PowerHouse on 8th.
Comments: I take both boys to the Sunday story hour (Hugo sleeps through it). I love that there are different authors and crafts that compliment the story.
Name: Melissa, mom to Serena (1.5)
Favorite neighborhood drop-in activity: ARTLAB at Eckford Street Studio
Comments: We love ARTLAB Storytime — it’s a bunch of activities including songs, books, bubbles, soft play, and art. They mix up a new fruit or vegetable (edible) paint each week, so the little ones can smear, splatter, and yes, taste! their creations. Plus at the end you have something tangible and precious to take home (they work great as gifts for relatives too!)
