SkipKid Weekend Roundup: December 19-20


Holiday lights, holiday sing-alongs, holiday parties! This SkipKid roundup begins on Friday, with a special sing-along to jumpstart your weekend. Joannas ‘n Bananas will be at Jill Lindsey in Fort Greene at 4 PM on Friday featuring all your favorite wintertime music. The weekend starts now!

Winter Wonderland Party, Gymboree, Park Slope.
On Saturday, December 19th, Santa is coming to Gymboree. It’s an afternoon of fun and cheer as you take an imaginative sleigh ride, and skate and play in the snow at the Winter Wonderland Party. Enjoy music, snacks, dancing, a winter art project and, of course, a picture with Santa. 2:30 – 4:00 pm. Members – $15; Non-members – $25. On Sunday, December 20th at 1:00 p.m, country band the Three Gentlemen will be doing country classics, family-style singalongs, and impromptu requests, with special guests (including Santa who will be making a guest appearance!). Bring the kiddos to Hill Country at 345 Adams Street for a children’s BBQ menu.

Holiday Baby Rhythm Makers, Ume Ume, Park Slope.
On Saturday, December 19th, from 9:30 to 10:05 AM, Ume Ume invites all of its youngest Umee’s (newborn to 1.5 years old) to a special Holiday edition of the Baby Rhythm Makers/ Sing-a-long class at its normal time and price ($20 per family). Feel free to wear your holiday attire!

Tour of the Dazzling Dyker Heights Christmas Lights, Dyker Heights.
If you haven’t checked out the Christmas lights bonanza that happens each year in Dyker Heights, you’re missing out. The neighborhood has drawn national attention for its wild holiday decorations, which include 30-foot tall toy soldiers, glowing nativity scenes, motorized displays and more. Grab a coat, a cup of hot chocolate and join the rest of the city as we all gawk at the displays. Take a trip any time before the New Year to the Dyker Heights neighborhood (around 83rd through 86th Streets, between 11th through 13th Avenues).
