Jungle Gym Jam Music at the Wonder Wheel, Coney Island. Kick off your family’s summer with rock-n-roll that celebrates the family getaway to the beach! This award-winning kid-friendly rock band from New Jersey will perform for free on the boardwalk right in front of Wonder Wheel Park.

Cooking for Your Baby, the Brooklyn Kitchen, Williamsburg. Let a chef (and parent!) guide you through the finer points of introducing solids to your baby, demonstrating how to prepare delicious and healthy food from scratch for your budding gastronome.

Bargemusic, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Dumbo. Walk across the gangplank of a renovated coffee barge for a one-hour, family-friendly concert.

Brooklyn Read Aloud, Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park. Join the Prospect Park Alliance and the Brooklyn Reading Council for a day of education and fun at the Lefferts Historic House, featuring a special read aloud and book giveaway event.

Our Great Big Backyard story time, Barnes and Noble, Park Slope/Brooklyn Heights. This special story time explores Our Great Big Backyard, by authors former First Lady Laura Bush and her daughter Jenna Bush Hager. This is a picture book tribute to our national parks and the importance of connecting with nature. Coloring and activities to follow.


Splash Pad Opening Weekend, LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Prospect Park. One of Brooklyn’s coolest summer spots, the Splash Pad is designed for children under 12 and their parents and care-givers. With over 20 water jets, the Splash Pad provides state-of-the-art water play and admission is free to the public.

DanceAfrica Bazaar, BAM, Ft. Greene. DanceAfrica’s beloved bazaar returns, featuring more than 150 vendors from around the world, offering African, Caribbean, and African-American food, crafts, and fashion. Celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Africa and its diaspora—and see the streets surrounding BAM transformed into a global marketplace.


Celebrate Memorial Day in Prospect Park. Spread wood chips around trees, watch a snake gobble a mouse, plant a potato, or take a carousel ride with your family–all in Brooklyn’s biggest park.
