Happy Thanksgiving from SkipKid! We wish you a healthy and safe holiday. If you happen to be in town, here are some activities we think the whole family will enjoy.

Giving Thanks at Thanksgiving, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Crown Heights.
On Tuesday, November 24 and Wednesday, November 25, learn about the origin of Thanksgiving and how families in America celebrate at The Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Create a work of art that expresses your gratitude for your family and community. This activity is free with museum admission and is for kids ages 2.5 – 5 years.

Jewish Children’s Museum, Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Many museums are closed on Thanksgiving Day, but the Jewish Children’s Museum is open from 10 AM to 4 PM. When you and your kids have been inside too long, head out for an adventure: Soil to Oil, an interactive workshop at the Jewish Children’s Museum is open for exploration. In this hands-on workshop, visitors will learn how olive oil is made, using methods that have been around since Temple times. Participants choose the choicest olives, extract the oil, and finally light a Chanukah menorah using their hand-made wicks and freshly produced oil. Suitable for all ages, with adult help.

Prospect Park Zoo, Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
The Prospect Park Zoo is also open all day on Thanksgiving–the animals have to eat, too! Kids of all ages and their grown-ups will enjoy watching the sea lions, baboons and hundreds of other animals on display. The cost ranges from $5 – $8 dollars depending on age — children under 3 are free.

Thanksgiving at The Farm on Adderley, Ditmas Park.
This rustic farm to table restaurant will be offering a three-course prix fixe for $55 / person. A ‘traditional Thanksgiving plate’ will be one of the entree options, including a vegetarian menu.
