Giving Thanks at Thanksgiving, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Crown Heights.
On Tuesday, November 24 and Wednesday, November 25, learn about the origin of Thanksgiving and how families in America celebrate at The Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Create a work of art that expresses your gratitude for your family and community. This activity is free with museum admission and is for kids ages 2.5 – 5 years.
Jewish Children’s Museum, Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Many museums are closed on Thanksgiving Day, but the Jewish Children’s Museum is open from 10 AM to 4 PM. When you and your kids have been inside too long, head out for an adventure: Soil to Oil, an interactive workshop at the Jewish Children’s Museum is open for exploration.In this hands-on workshop, visitors will learn how olive oil is made, using methods that have been around since Temple times. Participants choose the choicest olives, extract the oil, and finally light a Chanukah menorah using their hand-made wicks and freshly produced oil. Suitable for all ages, with adult help.
Prospect Park Zoo, Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
The Prospect Park Zoo is also open all day on Thanksgiving–the animals have to eat, too! Kids of all ages and their grown-ups will enjoy watching the sea lions, baboons and hundreds of other animals on display. The cost ranges from $5 – $8 dollars depending on age — children under 3 are free.
Thanksgiving at The Farm on Adderley, Ditmas Park.
This rustic farm to table restaurant will be offering a three-course prix fixe for $55 / person. A ‘traditional Thanksgiving plate’ will be one of the entree options, including a vegetarian menu. There will also be a kids’ Thanksgiving plate for $25 (also includes the choice of a dessert). Volunteer meal delivery, God’s Love We Deliver, Various locations throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan
There’s no better place to spend Thanksgiving Day than at God’s Love We Deliver! Preparing and delivering thousands of meals requires the help of many volunteers. The organization needs help delivering Thanksgiving feasts to clients, their families and guests. It’s a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season! Nature Exploration, Prospect Park Audubon Center, Prospect Park, Brooklyn
On Friday, November 27, join the Prospect Park Alliance for FREE nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation. Activities include games, naturalist lead tours for children and families, and animal encounters. The event takes place from 12-3 PM
