Celebrate Earth Day this weekend with activities ranging from strolling (or scooting!) through the car-free streets of Manhattan to scouting out the blooms in Cherry Esplanade at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. There are musical performances, family art projects, and stories for all ages. Enjoy yourselves, and be sure to visit SkipKid for even more fun!

Hands-on stations throughout the garden’s meadow, woodland, and marsh habitats and in the vegetable garden encourage families to explore nature together. Inspired by Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, this innovative theater piece takes children on a voyage of discovery through landscapes of Shakespeare’s imagination and the music of his language. When a shepherdess and her flock of little sheep discover a lost baby, the audience must join in the search for the child’s family, a journey that will take them through the forest and across the sea. Full of scents, textures, colors, and songs, this immersive sensory experience is sure to delight and inform younger audiences about the power of their own imaginations. Ages 2-5.

Make a clean sweep of your neighborhood by joining the Sustainability Committee of the  Park Slope Civic Council at its annual spring beautification, recycling and clean-up event. Join other volunteers in picking up litter on sidewalks, participating in
