The Alamo Drafthouse and our local PBS station are teaming up for a family screening of PBS KIDS’ latest show, along with themed activities and giveaways.Jack & Friends Present: Garden Festival, Park Slope Library Garden
All day festivities in the new garden featuring live music with Hopalong Andrew, Aly Sunshine from Funkytown Playground and Silly Jazz with Camille, as well as life animals including hawks, owls, and falcons.

In the Prospect Park bandshell’s annual children’s concert, Lisa Loeb will bring an afternoon of fun-loving, sing-along-able numbers, joined by the Brooklyn-based orchestra The Knights. Gates open at 2pm but plan to come early because a long line forms for this free concert.

BK Block Party, Albee Square, Downtown Brooklyn
Bring the kids for live music, double dutch with Double Dutch Empire, face painting, balloon animals, and more. Live music with Shira & Friends – an interactive extravaganza combining original tunes with classics for a sing-along, dance-along good time.

The Mermaid Parade, Coney Island
A completely original creation of Coney Island USA (the not for profit arts organization at 1208 Surf Avenue), the Mermaid Parade is the nation’s largest art parade and one of New York City’s greatest summer events.

Family Day, Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum, Prospect Park
Join the Wyckoff House Museum and Museum Hue for a day of fun, history, and food at the Wyckoff House Museum. Farmers Market, Hands-on exploration and activities in the house and garden, Natural Dyeing workshop for adults, natural tie-dying for kids (beginning at 1 PM). Special voting booth to help choose what vegetables we grow in the garden!

Juneteenth, Gershwin Park, East New York
Juneteenth celebrates freedom for all, worldwide.  Juneteenth promotes unity and builds self-esteem through reflection, education, and through acknowledgement of achievements.  This event encourages people of all races, nationalities and ethnicities to join together to support and participate in Juneteenth celebrations – a true testament to humanity.

Turtle Takeover Weekend, Prospect Park Zoo
All Weekend
Turtles (and tortoises) are taking over Prospect Park Zoo for a celebration of these ever-popular reptiles. Enjoy a scavenger hunt, keeper talks, live animals and turtle themed activities taking place throughout the zoo.

Porch Stomp, Nolan Park, Governor’s Island
Enjoy this fourth annual folk celebration set on the beautiful greenery of Governors Island. Sixty bands, artists, and performing arts organizations highlight artistry ranging from traditional folk to old-time, blues, roots, bluegrass and Americana. Porch Stomp has its roots as part of Make Music New York, a city-wide day of free outdoor music on the summer solstice.Bats! Brats! and Beer! Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, Bronx
Come celebrate on the front lawn of the mansion and watch the New York Mutuals play with 1864 rules, balls, bats, and uniforms—but no helmets or gloves! After the game, kids join in the fun for a game of rounders with team members. Beer and food vendors will be on-site.

Enjoy performances of Chinese opera, Chinese folk, klezmer, cantorial, and Puerto Rican bomba music. Watch fascinating demonstrations by a Hebrew and a Chinese scribe, Puerto Rican mask maker, and other folk artists. Learn how to braid challahs and make dumplings and empanadas. Partake in a multitude of crafts including yarmulke making, mask making, lace making and more. Try your hand at a fierce game of mah jongg with community mavens. Kosher  egg rolls, egg creams and empanadas will be sold.
