9th Annual South Slope Derby, Open Source Gallery, South Slope. Experience the thrill of witnessing participants from the summer Soap Box Workshop race their fun, funky, eco-friendly contraptions down 17th Street in Brooklyn.
Storytime with Jessica Olien and Diana Murray, Book Court, Cobble Hill.
Join us for an exciting joint storytime event/launch of Jessica Olien and Diana Murray’s new picture books, Ned the Knitting Pirate and The Blobfish Book!
How to Be a Puppeteer, Barnes and Noble, Park Slope. Join Noel MacNeal and learn the skill and tricks of puppetry used on Sesame Street, The Muppets, Bear in the Big Blue House and more! Plus, create your very own puppet based on Noel’s book 10-Minute Puppets which he will personally sign. This bookfair will help fund Noel’s developing online series The Show Me Show for kids with autism and special needs.
Bargemusic, Brooklyn Bridge Park. Walk across the gangplank of a renovated coffee barge for a one-hour, family-friendly concert.
The 240th Commemoration of the Battle of Brooklyn, Greenwood Cemetery. Green-Wood hosts a day of free commemoration ceremonies and 18th-century living. See parades, cannon fire, horses, re-enactments and historic cooking. Living history events and activities will offer kids a real feel for life during the American Revolution. This is a great event for kids and families!
Family Fun with Suzi Shelton, Jalopy Theatre, Red Hook. Suzi’s family shows are filled with smiles, laughter and joy, and make you feel warm and fuzzy all over.
The 40th Annual Brighton Jubilee, Brighton Beach.
The Jubilee is a Brooklyn tradition featuring entertainment crafts, kiddie rides and delicious food with the beach as the backdrop.
THE PAPER HOUSE: SEASONS, Governors Island. This is the last weekend for kids of all ages to touch and play with the art – and create their own to help the house grow and change from day to day. Sprinkled with live performance, music and other surprises, The Paper House is a magical place where you can stop #time – even if just for a little while.
